F4DI is a system architect and integrator. Our flagship system is TR2ICS — a tethered radio-relay and interceptor platform for persistent counter-UAS protection. Alongside TR2ICS, we develop and integrate the technology building blocks that make defense systems mission-effective: sensors and payloads, autonomy and algorithms, effectors, and the software that ties them together. The sections below highlight current F4DI systems and technology efforts.
TR2ICS: tethered radio-relay interceptor counter-UAS system
TR2ICS is F4DI’s flagship counter-UAS system: a tethered radio-relay and interceptor architecture designed to give small units and fixed sites persistent airspace protection against Group 1–3 UAS threats. F4DI owns the system architecture, the interface control across sensor, effector, and tether subsystems, and the integration of partner-supplied components into a fielded capability. TR2ICS is engineered for the transition path — prototype, test, demonstration, and operational use — not as a laboratory demonstrator.
Metalens-based EO/IR imaging with Corlens
F4DI and Corlens are jointly developing metalens-based optical and infrared imaging for aerial and space applications. Metalens technology uses an optically flat surface to give engineers precise control over the wavefronts of light — enabling a single lens to replace multiple conventional optics with substantial size, weight, length, and cost advantages.
The joint product family includes fixed-focal, continuous-zoom, multi-zoom no-moving-part, and wide field-of-view long-wave infrared (LWIR) lenses. Unlike metalens concepts that have remained in university labs, this effort is engineered for field readiness. Current work: an LWIR imaging prototype for thermal surveillance. The underlying technology is patent-pending through Corlens; F4DI is driving system integration and mission application.
